Best Spring Break Mission Trips in 2025: A Complete Guide

Blog Home
by D.J. Morgan D.J. currently serves as EM's Creative & Marketing Director, helping connect volunteers to life-changing opportunities to serve and grow together on mission trips.

Whether you’re a college administrator, youth pastor, or simply a parent looking to engage your family and friends in meaningful service and learning opportunity, spring break mission trips might be just the right fit for your group. At Experience Mission, we think spring break is the perfect time to unplug from life and school and commit to learning how to love and serve others like Jesus in meaningful, tangible ways.

Why go on a Spring Break Mission Trip?

Spring break mission trips are a great way to unplug from the daily grind of school, work, and life. While it may seem counterintuitive to use vacation time for service, we have seen firsthand how a week of putting others first and refocusing your faith can be exactly what students need to rest and unplug from school and finish the school year well. So, whether you’re planning your alternative spring break or considering putting together a team of middle school or high school students, we’ve compiled a list of the best spring break locations for everyone.

How many people can go on Spring Break Trips?

For Experience Mission trips, most locations require a minimum of 6-10 people and a maximum of 50-60 people. Interested in bringing a group of 60-100? Contact us for special arrangements.

What are the best Spring Break Mission Trip options for my team?

Choosing a location for spring break can depend on a few factors including budget, group size, and preferred distance from home. Check out our guide to choosing a location for a mission trip, or browse our best suggestions for 2025 spring mission trip locations below.

Caribbean Spring Break Mission Trips

1. Catadupa, Jamaica

Go beyond the beachside resorts and adventures in Montego Bay! Take the winding road into the mountains filled with potholes and wandering goats, and come alongside the vibrant and thriving church community of Christian Fellowship Church. Partner with local leaders to invest in the community in meaningful ways to make a real impact. Teams who serve in Jamaica work on building projects to improve homes, roads, and, at times, even water systems, while also spending time with local youth and experiencing an extension of the global church family. While this rural Jamaican mission trip is far from a beach vacation, mission teams will find themselves refreshed by the welcoming and genuine spirit found in the Jamaican people. Check out our 5 Reasons to serve in Jamaica.

2. Belize

EM mission trips to Belize connect your group to a network of Spanish-speaking churches seeking to bring the gospel to their communities. Whether you’re a youth group, college students, family, or group of adults, spring mission trips to Belize give you the chance to partner with local church leaders to complete building projects while also reaching out to local kids through Kids Club programs. Serve alongside fellow Christians who are thriving in small towns amidst vast expanses of jungle and be a beacon of encouragement on their journey to continue reaching their neighbors.

3. Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico has been in and out of crisis since a hurricane whipped through the U.S. island territory in 2017 with tornado-level winds, drenching the island with intense flooding, crippling communications, and decimating countless homes. In 2019, the island was struck by an earthquake swarm, displacing many families from their homes. The global pandemic slowed rebuilding and recovery and has left the territory in a fragile economic state. Connect with incredible local organizations and ministries on a spring mission trip to Puerto Rico. Experience the struggles and joys of those living in a U.S. territory not far from the contintenal U.S. If you are looking for an opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of real people in need, this will be a great spring trip for your group.

4. Rio Grande Valley, Texas

Immerse your student group in the local culture, struggles, and joy found at the U.S./Mexico border. Go beyond news headlines and political debates. EM's local partners provide the opportunity to tour south Texas and develop meaningful relationships while partnering with local pastors who lead their congregation faithfully through daily hardships taking place in their community. Spring break mission trip groups in South Texas often have the opportunity to serve asylum-seekers, immigrant and refugee communities, and put real faces and names to debates in our news media and across the country. Show up ready to learn and grow, and leave with an entirely new perspective on a region and community very few get to see in and experience in person.

Would you like to engage your student group in a conversation about loving their neighbors in and around the border? Fill out an Interest Form to get started!

5. Chicago, Illinois

Come to Chicago next Spring and move towards a deeper understanding of poverty. Allow your group to experience the lives and issues surrounding those living in the inner city. Many living in suburban and rural communities in the U.S. hear and see mostly negative portrayals of the inner city, which contribute to unhelpful labeling and misguided interactions. With these mission trips, we hope to reveal the giftedness of the community through healthy, meaningful experiences that combine service, learning, and active engagement. You will walk away challenged and changed by those actively serving in Chicago's urban neighborhoods every day.

6. Rural Towns of Cuba

There is so much the average American doesn't know about Cuba! Go beyond history books and headlines and travel on a spring break mission trip to Cuba. Partner with EM's local partners and get to know local church communities who are growing and thriving. Serve alongside young house churches and encourage local pastors as they seek to lead under the rule of an anti-religious, communist government. This trip will challenge what you know about “living your mission” and inspire your team to live boldly in their faith.
