How much does a spring break mission trip cost?
Spring break mission trips with EM cost $495 to $1,595 per person for the week. U.S. communities run $495 to $585, Caribbean and Central American communities $795 to $895, and southern Africa $1,395 to $1,595. The mission trip cost for each participant covers food, lodging, transportation (in international communities), all work project materials, support for local partners, and field staff for your trip. Cost varies by community and by week, so reference the list above and each community page for trip details.

How many people does our group need?
Most EM communities require a group of at least 6 people. Some set a different minimum: Cape Town and Pretoria 3, Puerto Rico and Namibia 5, Belize 10, and Rio Grande Valley 15. Groups below a community's minimum can ask EM Support Staff about options when you Submit an Interest Form. Every group needs at least one adult leader age 21 or older.
Who can go on a spring break mission trip?
Spring break mission trips welcome middle school, high school, and college groups, adult groups, and mixed groups of youth and adults. The youngest age/grade welcome varies by community, so check the community page for specific details. For trips with youth under 18, plan on one adult leader for every 7 high school students or every 5 middle school students. How long is a spring break mission trip?
Most spring break mission trips run 6-12 days. Most U.S. weeks run 6 days, Cuba and Belize go for 7 days, and the southern Africa trips 12 days.
How does EM prepare teams to serve well?
EM prepares groups before they arrive with information about the community, local partners, and tools to help you prepare spiritually and logistically. Going through EM's cross-cultural training materials as a team before your trip is optional but strongly recommended, as it helps volunteers approach your mission trip week in a healthy way. EM's 7 Healthy Service Principles videos cover the importance of coming as guests, listening first, learning from local leaders, and seeing the image of God in each person we meet.
How do we reserve a week?
Submit an interest form so EM Support Staff can talk through your group's size, dates, and goals, and make sure they match the trip(s) you are interested in. When you're ready, you can Register Your Team and pay your initial trip deposit to reserve your spot.
Spring Mission Trips FAQ
Can a college or adult group go on a spring break mission trip?
Yes! College teams, church groups, and adult groups are welcome and encouraged to book spring weeks the same way youth groups do. The same group size minimums apply. Submit an interest form to learn more about a community or trip.
Why does the trip cost differ between weeks in the Spring and Summer?
During the summer, EM field staff lead trips for multiple weeks in a row, keeping staffing and prep costs low for each trip. In the Spring, staffing and prep costs are often higher as trips are spread out and coordinated on an as-needed basis.
What does the trip cost not include?
When thinking through additional costs for your team, consider the cost of travel to the community (airfare or ground transportation), vehicles during your trip (for domestic trips), travel insurance, personal spending, any gear needed, and passports (needed for all international trips).
