EM Africa Missionary

From my childhood dream of journeying to the other side of the world to joining an Experience Mission IMMERSION team in 2016, my interest in Africa has turned into a deep love for the continent and its people. Once you travel there, it becomes obvious that we all carry misconceptions about Africa and the people who call the continent home, and I'm incredibly excited to not just be a part of what God is doing in southern Africa, but also to tell the real story of real people who are working to better God’s Kingdom there.

Starting this Fall and Winter, I will be joining the EM Africa team as a full-time coordinator in South Africa. I am incredibly passionate about the work and ministry being done by Experience Mission in South Africa and its neighboring countries as well as the people I've been able to serve alongside on my trips last year. And now I'm beyond excited to join the EM team there full-time!

How did I get to this point?

I have traveled a lot throughout my life. I came to the understanding early on that God is at work all around the world and that I wanted to be a part of what He was doing. After graduating from West Texas A&M University with my Bachelors and Masters degrees, I wanted to step into something more and knew God was calling me to go to Africa.

My dream came true in the summer of 2016, as I stepped off the plane in Namibia to begin my 3-month IMMERSION term. Working at a local school, living with a host family, and walking alongside the local church in Namibia only fueled my passion for the continent I was falling in love with. God came alive in new ways to me, and I quickly realized that I wanted to be a part of His story in Africa and the revival He was working in this place.

After IMMERSION ended, I traveled to South Africa to stay with EM Africa Director Hein Van Wyk and his family, where I was able to travel to more communities they serve and meet even more people who stole her heart. After returning to the states, I worked with ESL students at my alma mater West Texas A&M, but my heart was still in Africa. Now, after months of consideration and prayer, I've decided to begin my journey of serving full-time as part of the EM Africa team!
