My Story
Dear friends and family,
This year God has called me to do something insane. He has called me to take a one month mission trip to northern Namibia, in southern Africa. I will be living, immersing, and ministering with the Himba tribe. Missions is what I feel called to pursue as a career. I believe that one of the reasons why God has called me on this mission trip is to experience what life is really like as a missionary. The organization I will be going with is called Experience Mission. This organization emphasizes immersion into the culture that we are ministering to. I will be living and eating with the Himba people. This is no ordinary mission trip. It's a rugged trip, where I will be tested spiritually, emotionally, and physically. The Himba are an unreached people group, who are in great need of the gospel. While being respectful to their culture and beliefs, we will help to establish and grow churches, partner with local schools, and do children's ministry within the tribe. I truly believe that God is going to do crazy things on this trip, and I am honoured to be apart of it. God’s calling is not always easy. Sleeping in tents, taking bucket showers, purifying water and cooking over charcoal is the middle of the desert is not appealing to most. However, God has made it clear that I need to go on this trip, and I’m up for the challenge. If I want to pursue being a full-time missionary, I need to experience day to day life as a true missionary.
The cost of this trip is daunting, just over $5,000. When I went into the interview, I figured out the price, and my heart sank. I thought that there was no way that this trip could ever work out. Then I remembered the Bible chapter I was reading just minutes before my interview. The chapter was John 6, where Jesus fed the 5,000. The verses that stuck out to me were verses 5-7,
“When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” (News Flash: Right after this, Jesus fed the 5,000)
After I read this I wrote down in my journal, “Money is no obstacle for God.” I firmly believe that God will provide the sufficient funds for me to go on the trip. I ask first and foremost that you pray for me before and during this trip. If you would like to support me financially, please let me know if any household chores I can complete for you. You can donate right on this website!
You can also do so by sending a check, just make sure that my name is in the memo line. All checks must be payable to Experience Mission, and cannot be signed over from another name.
You can mail checks to:
