In May of 2017 I made a decision to let go and let God fully, 100% lead my life. The willingness to give Him everything eventually led me to packing my life into a 60 Liter backpack and saying see you later to my friends, family and comfort zone. In May I left Fort Wayne, Indiana and went to NYC for two weeks and the following countries Jamaica, Belize and Costa Rica over the course of a six month period. While there we served alongside local communities, staying with host families living the “local way.” Being away from my every day life here in America gave me the opportunity to open my eyes to new cultures, find my own faith and has challenged my view on missions and what it means to truly love onto others. It taught me to be present with the person sitting across from me, to be intentional with my relationships. I learned to appreciate the little things and find beauty in everything that surrounded me. It was on my hardest days, when my friends and family were out of reach that I truly learned to lean on God, and go to Him first above all else. It took me stepping out of my comfort zone, and getting on a plane for me to finally realize that the life God has for me is far greater than the life I’ve ever had for myself. He calls us to go and serve, and for each of us that may be different. Over the course of these six months I have learned a great deal, and my faith has been challenged in many ways. Half way through the trip I felt a stirring that this wasn’t going to be the last mission trip, but this time God was calling me even further out of my comfort zone. I know first hand this opportunity will allow me to challenged in even more and greater ways. In January 2018 I will be leaving for the Holy Land (Israel and Palestine) for 3 months. Having just returned home from the mission field I will not be able to personally fund myself. It is only with your help that this amazing opportunity can be fulfilled.
