“I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received” (Ephesians 4:1). This is my theme verse for 2023 as I will graduate with my BA in Psychology from Vanguard University in May and begin my next chapter. When I was in Puerto Rico on my first mission trip last summer, I had a distinct experience where I felt God calling me to a life of service in ministry and missions. Since then I have been on a continually evolving journey to discover what that looks like. Although a lot remains unknown, I am confident that my next step as an Experience Missions (EM) Summer 2023 Intern will propel me on this journey of discovery. My passion for community outreach and development stems from the mutually impactful relationships that create opportunities for learning, strengthening of faith, and healing. My background in and enthusiasm for psychology provide a reliable foundation for these connections to take place. I also love the bonds formed among volunteers and therefore eagerly facilitate outreach experiences that will contribute to personal and spiritual transformation for those giving and receiving. I am beyond excited for the opportunity to apply all of this in my position as an EM Intern in the rural Appalachians this summer. I will be spending time in Beattyville, Kentucky and Richwood, West Virginia where a fellow intern and I will be leading weekly teams in various outreach projects. Although I will be receiving a stipend for my work at EM, I am still in need of additional support.
