Hi, My name is Lena. I am adopted from China and spent about 3 years in an orphanage in Lanzhou when I was ages 10 to 13. From time to time foreigners would come to our orphanage and help with a variety of things. I knew they were Christians because of the children's stories that they shared. I have been interested in helping others and doing missions work since I was about fourteen. I read many books about missionaries all during my school years and those helped give me the desire to want to serve others and teach them about Jesus. I will be traveling to South Africa in January for a three month trip to Johannesburg and Pretoria. My group will also spend time in the rural areas outside of these cities with people that live there. We will be living with host families so we can get the best feel for what life is like in these areas. I am very excited to go and see how God will have me grow.
