My name is Sophia Gonzalez, I am 18 years old and I currently attend Burlington High School in Wisconsin. Past fall I was looking for colleges to apply to and even thinking about playing softball in college. I wasn't as excited as my peers as I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I always had mission trips in the back of my head, helping people and making an impact on peoples life while spreading the word of God is something I'm very passionate about. However the thought of going 8,711 miles away from home by myself was haunting me. I kept praying about it and asking God for a sign that going on a mission was the right thing for me. I ended up hearing about Experience Mission over the radio multiple times in a week. After hearing it for the 10th time I decided to look it up and research it some more. My excitement quickly grew and I knew this is something I wanted to be apart of. I found the 1 month South Africa trip, and I was impressed by everything I could be apart of. I eagerly applied and got in contact with the amazing EM staff. Now, I am going to be a part of a life changing experience and I cannot wait for this upcoming fall to see what God has in store for me and what he has planned for my life after this trip.
