My Story

Hi! My name is Alice Lehr and I am currently a senior living in Bloomington, Indiana. I live with my mom, my dad, and my sweet obnoxious dog Roxy. I love Jesus and worshiping, nature, friends and family, dancing, tennis, and traveling. I am very excited to server God while traveling and learning from other cultures! I am super excited (and terrified to be honest) for this upcoming year, and I have a lot of fundraising and work to do to make it happen. I believe that if this is the path God wants me to take, then I will be able to overcome the obstacles that I face in this process. Before accepting my spot on the team, I was constantly overwhelmed with my “what if” thoughts. What if my mom's cancer comes back? What if someone I love dies? What if I can't make the funds in time? What if…? It took me a long time to realize that, just like the Bible says, I shouldn't make my decisions out of fear, but based on what I believe to be true, and if God has this path for me, then no amount of fear or worry should stop me from just saying “yes." Giving it all to God means saying “I trust you with my life, and I will follow you wherever you lead me.”

I will be doing the Experience Mission Immersion Gap Year Program. I along with a group of 5-15 people my age will be serving people (and God) in the communities in South Africa, Belize, Cuba, and Costa Rica. It's scary but also AMAZING to think about how different life will be. I won't be able to rely on all of the things I am used to at home and will be in a culture i've never experienced before. I cannot wait to be apart of these communities, experience the world and grow in my relationship with God.
