My Story

Hi my name is Uzoamaka (“Amaka”) Ohai, and I was born in Lagos, Nigeria. I have two biological older brothers. We lost our birth mother when I was 4 years old & my birth father did not remain and walked out of our lives. I got adopted in 2005 & moved to the U.S. at the age of 10. After High School, I enlisted in the Navy for 4 years. I transitioned out of the service in 2016. Also, I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work in May of this year.

I attended a Church conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma back in September 2019. The conference at Transformation Church was centered around version 1. The iPhone was used to illustrate—before we even had the iPhone 11 PRO Apple had to come out with the very first version: The iPhone. Pastor Charles Metcalf wanted to remind us that our version 1 isn't insignificant in this life & that as we allow God to make revisions, we can blossoms into better versions. However, it all starts with our first version. I drew closer to my Creator through this impactful experience!

To connect it all together, I received a powerful word from God during that conference; it couldn't be more clear the country I should visit to participate in missions & South Africa was mentioned directly to me by a stranger named Chase. He mentioned a direct and clear vision of my future during the mission's trip and one of the children I would interact with. Yet in an arena of over 4,000 people, the Breather of the Stars took a notice of me and met me exactly where I was. Where people from across the 50 states and from over 30 different countries. He used a stranger named Chase to pour into me and give me a vision of exactly where He desired me to be in this next season of my life! I'm so grateful for this amazing opportunity to build new relationships & experience God's love, mercy, and joy in a country I've never been too.

I want to let you all know that God's promises never fail and by June 2020, my trip was 100% funded!!!🎊🙏🏾 TO GOD BE THE GLORY as He promised me NOT to worry about the finances of this trip. I am EXTREMELY GRATEFUL to everyone who financially donated & gave openly & generously to see God's Will fulfilled in my life! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

COVID UPDATE:
Due to the unprecedented times of our 'new normal' with Covid 19 and extensive lockdowns, my trip was cancelled for 2020. With postponement to 2021, Experience Mission policy states they had to keep 10% of trip cost + my $500 security deposit. This now brings me down to 83% funded and I have to raise more funds.

I'm genuinely asking will you be willing to partner with me & help me water the seeds God has planted inside of me? I cannot do this on my own & I am kindly asking for monetary donations & financial support to help me make it on this trip next year! I also kindly ask for prayers that God's will for my life will be manifested & His glory will shine through it all! That the seeds He's placed in me will produce good fruit that will bless others around me & in the community!

With love & Blessings,

Amaka
