About the Project

There are many hardworking people living in Haiti who love their families and want to build purposeful lives, but all too often they lack the opportunity to find meaningful work with adequate income. The problem is simple. People need a source of income because they lack money, but it takes money to find a job, start a business, or gain an asset that can turn into a source of income. This cycle of poverty entraps numerous Haitians. People will spend years in this cycle where they struggle every day just to get food to eat. When people are struggling just to survive, they become discouraged and eventually lose all hope of ever climbing out of poverty. For most, it is not because of a lack of desire to work but because of circumstances beyond their control. Sometimes one break is all a person needs to start down a path that will ultimately enable them to climb out of poverty once and for all, but they may spend their entire lives waiting for that break that never comes.

This is why we are raising money through our Microloan program to purchase motorcycles for qualified applicants. With a loan of $1000, we will purchase a motorcycle and setup a contract with the applicant after which they will be able to use this motorcycle as a moto-taxi. With a portion of their weekly income they will pay back the loan so that they can become the sole owner of the moto-taxi. Once the loan is repaid money will go back into the Microloan fund to help others. This is about sustainable giving that truly empowers people rather than just giving a one-time handout.

Please consider making a donation today. Your donation can literally be the break that changes a person's life.

Write a Message to the Family

Encourage this business owner as they embark on a journey toward creating more opportunities for their family! When they log in to the Micro-Loan section of our website, they'll be able to look at all of thier messages from donors and supporters alike.

Loans Are a "Hand Up"

Thousands of good business ideas from people who desperately want to support their families are never realized because of a lack of resources. Interest free Micro-Loans provide enough capital to get the ball rolling, empowering people to work hard toward their own vision for a better life.

Our Micro-Loans Recycle

With Micro-Loans, your donation is not just a one-time gift. Loans are paid back into the program, allowing EM and our community partners to fund more and more projects. We hope to see this eventually lead to the creation of a self-sustaining micro-finance entity in each community. That's sustainable giving!

Direct Impact Donations

100% of donations towards our Micro-Loans go directly to the community. Most of the fundraising goal goes directly towards starting new small businesses, with a small percentage providing the time of both their personal advisor and the Micro-Loan program director, both local community members.
