About the Student
Cathia grew up with her mother and little brother, and they've always struggled financially because neither of her parents had a good job. Though she was eventually able to make it through high school, it was a struggle. Still, Cathia desperately wants to continue onto higher education. Cathia says, "People that go to school suffer too, but if you don't even go to school your suffering is more severe." In many ways this sums up the situation of so many people in Haiti. Life is hard for everyone because of the economic situation, but if you are able to get your education life definitely improves.
