This year, we're resolving with new fervor to better empower communities where we serve. Empowering is the antithesis of giving a handout. Instead, it gives opportunity and provides people the ability to change their own circumstances and communities. Empowering gives back dignity where it has been lost. Empowering people means tapping into the hopes and dreams that people have for their own community, and providing the necessary support to see those dreams become realities.
In 2013, EM is launching two initiatives through our website that focus on community empowerment: Education Scholarships and Micro-Loans. We're seeking to provide scholarships for teenagers and young adults looking to finish school. Our hope is that this hand up will empower them to make changes in their community and better provide for their own families. We're also seeking to raise donations for micro-loans that will be given to would-be business owners and farmers who lack the necessary capital to get started. We hope to see the beginnings of self-sustaining micro-finance programs that provide capital for entrepreneurs in their own neighborhoods. We are incredibly excited about these initiatives and we cant wait to share them, as each and every scholarship and micro-loan will be crowd-funded by people like you. Will you join us in providing an opportunity that empowers?
