My Story

-Hello from Missoula, Montana! As many of you know I am currently in my second year (sophomore) at the University of Montana. I am studying Health Enhancement to one day be a P.E. and Health teacher! I am currently the Head Men's Basketball Manager for the Griz, a new UM ADVOCATE!!, and a leader with Grizzly Christian Fellowship on campus. My whole life I have struggled with the question "what to you want to be when you grow up?" Well, I think we all struggle with that question, but I knew it had something to do with children. God has really laid missions on my heart and Africa has always been the dream, but most dreams never come true....that is why when I found Immersion and went through the interview process, I really just left it up to God on whether I would get the chance or not, and here we are! I have the rare opportunity to spend 1 month this coming summer with the Himba people, fully immersed in their lives. If you would like to find out more about the trip, call me or scroll down on this website :) God has really been there through all of this and I really felt him working in me about this trip.
My favorite verse about missions is Mark 16: 15 "He said to them, go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation."

Now, this is where you come in. A trip like this would not be possible without external support from everyone I know! It would make me beyond happy if everyone I know would start supporting me now with prayers for the entire trip, process, and fundraising, but with that also contribute what you all can financially. I have some creative ideas to start fundraising, and will also start a blog to share my progress. It would mean the world to me if you were a part of that support system!

The best way to contribute financially is through a one- time or monthly donation on this website or mailing your donation to me. My Address will be at the END. The coolest thing about using the website is your donation is tax-deductible. If you have any questions please ask.

Thank you in advance for supporting me in this huge adventure. I know that it may be a huge sacrifice to support me financially, and I want you to know that I appreciate it more than I can express in words! I also would like to say that your support in prayer and just knowing you are there for me during this journey means so much more to me than a donation. I'd love to share more about this trip with you and look forward to hearing from you all! I can't wait to see how God continues to Bless me though this experience and I want to thank you for being a part of it all!

Gratitude-
Good Morning, I am writing this on our bus back to Missoula from our road trip to Weber St. and Idaho St. and this was an amazingly fun trip! I won’t talk to much about basketball, but I will mention this is the first time that we have swept this road trip since 1992, and now we have Ahmaad Rorie and Mike Oguine on the team who both made it into the 1500 career points club which is a huge accomplishment. On our flight from Missoula to Salt Lake City I was listening to a Ted Talk on Gratitude and Thankfulness. It was called “Approaching with Kindness” and I highly recommend listening to it! I was sitting there thinking about how much I had to do, places I wanted to be and all of these things that didn’t really matter and then I listened to this. I had an instant mood change and felt so relieved I chose to listen to this on the plane! I grabbed my boarding pass (cause it was my only piece of paper handy) and starting writing notes all over it!
The first statistic they talked about was that those that work at a place where they are recognized they are 23% more effective, but if their bosses/supervisors actually care about who they are rather than what they do for the company that productivity is raised to 43%. So just the simple fact of appreciation raised productivity by 20%. Now, appreciation does not mean like, or agree with or even they have to be friends with you, but rather it means recognize the VALUE OF! How many people can truly say they feel appreciated every day for what they do……I would be willing to bet it is less than 50% and that I think has many major effects. I never put much thought to it, but one of our coaches says thank you or I appreciate you multiple times a day and it wasn’t until now that I realized how much of a positive impact that made on my attitude! The crazy part of this is it is so simple! It takes very little time and the little thought it takes has so many positive outcomes for both parties.
Now think about the best team that you have ever been a part of? This can be a sports team, a workforce, a family, maybe a friend group, etc. Now what characteristics did that team have that made it the best or the most successful. For me that team had excellent communication, sacrifice, handled adversity very well, had fun, included everyone (even through mistakes), we knew our personal role, trust, and had amazing leadership! Now these are all kind of mushy and soft, but it really comes down to the fact we felt appreciated, we showed up each day cause all the people around us made us better and made the environment one that we wanted to be at! Now why don’t we take those same ideas and concepts and apply them to our job or day to day life now? Now what do you do when someone expresses kindness or appreciation? Just say thank you and be quiet. Most of the time you say thank you, you follow it up with a reply compliment that you really don’t mean or say something like “you too” and it doesn’t make any sense! Saying Thank You is not only a positive thing, but it is scientifically proven to raise the serotonin levels in both the giver and the receiver. So try and say Thank You more often as well as share your appreciation for others.
Another thing that I found amazing was the fact that most of us feel the need for others to praise us or thank us for something, and while we shouldn’t just go around saying “ umm or by the way you should thank me for doing (fill in the blank),” but we ask for the food we want and the needs we have in all other areas. It is freeing to talk with someone frequently about what you wish people would appreciate more, because how would someone know you put away all the dishes and cleaned the living room floor without watching you do it. Even on simple things like thanking your children for doing their chores is super productive. Yes, they are supposed to do the chores but they are more apt to do them if they know they are appreciated. Trust me this is hard and I am going to fail at it too, but being conscious of it will help!
This guy one day had the realization he thanked his wife for the coffee she brought him, but he should also thank everyone that got that coffee to his wife. It didn’t take long before he realized this was an endless trail that would never be attained, but he tried his best! He thanked the barista, the maker of the to-go cups, the producer of the milk and syrup, he thanked the trucking company that hauled the coffee to the coffee shop, he even went as far as flying to the coffee fields where the beans were produced and thanking them. Now he could have thanked the road crew for keeping the roads plowed, and the paving company for making the road, etc. but the point he was trying to make is almost every person he thanked was baffled and had never been thanked before for what they do. We live in a time where we have anything we want at our fingertips and have lost the appreciation for what we have!
So I will leave you all with this: Thank you for reading this and being an influential person in my life! Thank you for what you do daily to make the world a better place. And thank you for supporting me and my endeavors, I can’t share and express this enough! I am Grateful for so much, but most of all is that I have such a loving and supporting family, friends that are so gospel focused and love to have fun, the fact my job is basketball and that they are letting me travel with them, and finally the fact I live in a super nice apartment and get to go to college at one of the great universities of all time! Now my challenge for you is to do the following:
1. Say thank you to 5 people around you for something they have done for you or something you saw them do!
2. Tell at least 3 people you appreciate them for something!
3. Write down a list of at least 20 things you are grateful for (and man do we have so many things)
4. Tell someone close to you, something you wish you were thanked or appreciated for more!
5. Start each day appreciating what you have and who you have around you
Thank you for reading and the support towards my mission trip! Let’s be more grateful for what we have! Praise God!!!

Hello Everyone! I know it has been a long while since I posted an update on here and I am very sorry. I have been very busy, but also may or may not have forgot what blog website I was using ;) Since last month, I am now deep into classes and exams, as well as, now 31% funded for my trip!!! Praise God! And also thank you to all of you for the support and prayers. Each and every time doubt arises and I begin to let thoughts of doubt creep in, out of no where a thoughtful text, voicemail, or donation comes rolling in and reassures me that God is ALWAYS in control! “God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases” (Psalm 115:3)

This last month has been crazy! Between 17 Credits of school, traveling with Basketball, Anatomy and Physiology, planning for the second half the in trip to El Salvador, and planning a mental well being event for the college, you could say I was a bit busy! It has been such a blast though. For those of you that don't know I went to El Salvador and taught basketball to the youth and coaches with 18 other adults and students from Montana. Now in April twenty seven youth and coaches from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras are coming to Missoula to learn Basketball and US/Montana Culture! On, another note we are back in sole possession of 1st place of the Big Sky!

I am and have been trying to find a time for my mom to help me with a spaghetti feed or pancake brunch but it hasn't worked out....yet. When I have a solid date I will let you know as we are still giving away over $100 in a gift basket! Right now, I am in the works of writing a letter to all of the churches that I go to or have strong ties with! If you think your church would be willing to support me and want updates from my trip, please let me know as I would love to get more people and church bodies praying for our efforts in Namibia. I can't wait to meet my team soon and as the days start goes by it seems like next week I'll be on a plane for the largest and most life changing experiences of my life! The countdown has began 13,251,024 Heartbeats remaining or 5 months 3 weeks 9 hours and 49 min.

Acts 13:47 For the Lord gave us this command when he said, ‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’ ”

Good Morning, and in case I don't see you Good Afternoon, Good Evening, and Good Night! Now if you can tell me what movie that is from, you my friend have watched a movie I haven't watch till over break. How is everyone doing?!?! I am writing to everyone right now from my hotel bed in eastern Washington. I have had an extremely busy, fun, exhausting, blessed few months and as I was sitting here giving out snacks to the team I thought, I have not done a blog post in a really really long time! Since I last posted I have received enough donations to cover 25% of my trip, 1/4 is already covered! Praise God and thank you to everyone that made that possible. I had my 20th birthday which is hard to believe, and my little sister turned 5!! We also started off our season 10-4 before a heartbreaking loss at home by three against Portland St. I am blessed to be traveling to some games with the team and learning the ropes for next year! I start my fourth semester of college on Monday which is hard to believe and of the 15 credits I am taking 4 of them are anatomy and physiology. Please be praying for that.
Now that I have caught everyone up to where I am currently I just want to say thank you to all the people that support me, especially my Mom and Dad and Aunt Becky and Uncle Renn for coming to games or at least watching and cheering on at home! I could spend hours talking about everything they do and many others do for me but I will save time and just say thanks for everything everyone. This fall I was selected and pursued an opportunity to go to Namibia Africa for a whole month and spread the Gospel and it is hard to believe but that is only 6 months away now and before I know it I'll be boarding the plane for Africa. I have been learning a lot over break about my faith and really trying to identify places I need to grow so prayers with that would be very much appreciated. I am also going to try and start reading as much as I can everyday of the bible so I have a better understanding when I am talking to people this summer. I am going to start the bible in a year and get as far along as I can before I leave. Prayers and encouragement with that would be huge!! Finally, raising $5000 is a lot but graciously I am a quarter of the way there already. I need prayers and help with ideas and ways to spread the word and get it so I can make my payments toward my trip on time and paid fully. I appreciate all of the love and messages I get and they are super encouraging, so thanks again and please continue to pray but as always God Supplies much more than we even know we needed.
Philippians 4:19 says "and my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."

11/5/2018 12:47:11 PM

Hello everyone! How has the last few weeks been for you? I can't say the last few weeks have been easy by any means, but I have seen God's grace in more ways than one. The verse I keep turning to is 1 Corinthians 15: 58 that says, "
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." There have been many things going on in life, and I have been trying to control every one of them in my own way. It was not until this morning when I really reflected. God really showed be that worrying and trying to control things are not helping me or other people in any way! As he says in Luke, “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” Luke 12:22-26
I think it is so amazing that we can rest easy and know that everything will work out perfectly because with God's grace and love, he will be with me in everything I do. A few weeks ago I had my first payment for my trip due and to be honest I started to worry how I was going to pay for it....I kept praying but rather trusting fully in God's plan I was holding on to parts of my life and still worried. When I received a very gracious donation of $200 towards my trip, I had no words to fully describe how I was feeling. I was so happy to finally see that I had raised over $700 that it took me a second to realize that God was in all of this and knew exactly when I needed this. Through failed goals, and goals that exceed expectations I constantly need to remember to "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." Prov. 3:5&6
I also want to share that the basketball team started a bible study and your prayers for that and that the truth is taught and received beyond anything any of us can imagine would be greatly appreciated! So I not only want to praise God in all of this but also thank all of you for your support! I sometimes forget how amazing my support system is and want to thank you for being a part of that!! God's Grace has been shown in so many amazing ways these last few weeks and I look forward to the next coming weeks with only 4 days till my birthday, basketball season starting, 5 more weeks of 1st semester and Christmas!!!

Good Morning/Evening/Day to all of you whenever you see this! I have never done something like this so we will see how this goes......please no harsh judgement even though I know I won't get that from anyone reading this :) Anyway I have been asked to do a blog about my journey before, during and after my trip, and I am sorry video logs are just not my thing. So basically right now I am really trying to just get a grasp on this trip as I have been dreaming about something like this forever, while also praying and spending time growing in my relationship with Christ and finding the areas he wants me to work on. I also have kickstarted my campaign of fundraising with the 100 WALL. If you would like to take a number off my wall and donate that amount please let me know! For example 37 (legacy number for Montana Griz Fans ;) you would donate $37. I want to thank everyone for your donations so far! I needed at least $500 before the end of the month and I am almost there and we are only halfway into October, so thank you so much for giving.

God, sent David Lawrence and his wife which have been missionaries in the middle east for over 15 years and are soon going to be sent off to Iraq to start a new church. They came to large group on Wednesday night and talked about their story and where it all started for them, which crazy enough started in Africa, and then shared how they were called to go to the Middle East during the 9/11 attacks. I was so inspired by his words and felt like he was speaking towards me and this trip so much. He asked our group this question, "Are you able to transform a normal conversation to the gospel?" This really made me think and chew on whether I could or not and also allowed me to think about ways to make myself stronger in that area. He also said to think about ways to spread the gospel cross-culturally even on our campus and start their in our own backyards. Where can you spread the gospel in your community?

Then on Sunday David preached at our church Sovereign Hope on the passage in Matthew 28:18-20
He shared how we are called to make disciples by GOING, TEACHING, and BAPTIZING them in his name! Not only because we should spread the good news, but we should realize that Eternity is permanent so we should want to speak the truth in love for those around us! The last two statements he said that made me really think are as follows. "What would you want others to imitate from your life?" and he ended with saying "Be a participant in cross-cultural global missions by either going or sending! Non-participation is NOT an option!
These made me really think and I ultimately want people to see there is a difference in me from non-Christians and I want them to imitate my giving heart and desire to make other peoples lives better today than they were yesterday all while setting them up for a better tomorrow! Please let me know what your thoughts are and please continue to pray for me and this journey that starts now till I get back on August 8th 2019! GOD BLESS!!
