Denise is an intelligent young woman looking for an opportunity to build a better future for herself, her family, and her community. She graduated high school four years ago but was unable to begin college due to her current financial situation. Finding work where she lives without any schooling beyond high school is very difficult. She is currently unemployed and living with her mom along with several other relatives. A college education would allow Denise to be independent while helping support her mom and other relatives. A RISING scholarship will not only allow her to finally start her college education but also connects her with a mentor and a local Resource Center, all of which provide opportunity and hope, placing Denise one step closer to achieving her dreams and breaking the cycle of poverty in her community.

Why Education Matters
Education empowers. EM's Education Scholarships help provide necessary education and mentorship for teenagers and young adults who need a "hand up" towards a better life that presents opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.
