Georges lives with his mother and four other siblings. Since his parents divorced 7 years ago, the primary burden of supporting the family has fallen on his mother which has been incredibly challenging. She has been the rock of the family. Whether washing laundry by hand or performing any number of odd jobs that she can find, she has done whatever is necessary to make sure that her children have food to eat and they have a roof over their heads. Georges has seen his mother's struggles, and he knows how poor his family has been so he is very motivated to position himself to help provide for his family. Since he's very bright and he's always been good with his hands, he plans to go to vocational school so he can study auto mechanics and hopefully one day open his own shop. This scholarship will enable him to complete one year of vocational school.

Why Education Matters
Education empowers. EM's Education Scholarships help provide necessary education and mentorship for teenagers and young adults who need a "hand up" towards a better life that presents opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.
