Ronaldson continues to live with his aunt who remains unemployed, so life is a challenge but he's grateful to be entering his third year in the EM Education Program. He is currently a sophomore and he continues to do well in school. Ronaldson loves to eat and his favorite food is spaghetti. He earns his food because in addition to keeping up on his classes he has begun cooking for his family so that his aunt can care for the younger kids and earn some money where possible. When he's not cooking or going to class, he loves playing soccer and rooting for his favorite professional soccer team which is Real Madrid. He told us the highlight of the past year was that he got baptized. He says he is growing in his faith, and he is determined to stay away from the many temptations he faces as a young man in Haiti.

Ronaldson is currently a freshman in high school. He continues do well in his classes and he enjoys getting to know his classmates. He tells us that trigonometry is his favorite subject, and his most challenging subject is chemistry. Ronaldson walks 30 minutes to and from school each day, and he cooks for his family most days after school. Even with school and household chores, he still finds time to play soccer and cheer for Real Madrid, which is his favorite professional soccer team. He was baptized a year ago, and he was honest enough to admit that his personal faith has been up and down since then, but he is still seeking to serve the Lord.

Why Education Matters
Education empowers. EM's Education Scholarships help provide necessary education and mentorship for teenagers and young adults who need a "hand up" towards a better life that presents opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.
