5 years ago Vanessah was discouraged as she sat out an entire year of school all because her family could not afford it. Fast forward and Vanessah is now in her senior year of high school and doing well because of the generous support of many donors. Her favorite subjects are currently math and trigonometry. She used to want to be a nurse, but now she’s interested in pursuing a university degree in business administration. She believes she could do well in an administrative role at a company or organization. She says she is so grateful for all of the people who have donated toward her scholarships. She explains that in years past even when she did go to school she would be stressed because she knew money might run out and then her efforts could be wasted. Now she says it’s a great feeling to be able to relax and focus on her studies. In her free time, Vanessah enjoys reading and her favorite book to read is the Bible.

Vanessah is graduating this year as well, and she is enjoying her final year of school. She is doing well in all of her classes, and she says that math is her most challenging subject but it’s also her favorite. She also plays volleyball for a local club comprised of students ages 15-20. Her team plays other clubs and schools all over Haiti, and they plan to attend an international tournament in Panama next year. Their club is doing well with a winning record for the year. After she graduates, she hopes to go to attend college and she is interested in studying business or diplomacy.
