Mickesha lives in the rural Jamaican mountains, and she must take a total of 4 buses on a 4-hour round trip to school each day. She is very committed to her education, and she is more than willing to put in the long days necessary to continue, but the high cost of transportation has made it difficult for her family. Mickesha is a bright student, and her favorite subject is "Food and Nutrition." When she has free time she enjoys singing, dancing, and reading. She hopes one day to be a pediatrician.

Why Education Matters
Education empowers. EM's Education Scholarships help provide necessary education and mentorship for teenagers and young adults who need a "hand up" towards a better life that presents opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.
