Vanessah is one of seven kids raised by their mother alone. Their father died when Vanessah was young, and she says her mom is the “greatest mom in the entire world” because she understands how hard it has been for her mother to raise and support so many kids on her own in Haiti. Her mother works hard, but times have been tough and Vanessah had to drop out of school 2 years ago until she received an EM Scholarship. This third scholarship will enable her to complete her sophomore year, one step closer to graduating. Vanessah is very committed to pursuing and finishing her education and hopes to someday become a nurse.

Why Education Matters
Education empowers. EM's Education Scholarships help provide necessary education and mentorship for teenagers and young adults who need a "hand up" towards a better life that presents opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.
