Herby’s aunt started raising him after his mother died in the 2010 earthquake, but she is currently unemployed with several children of her own so she can’t afford to raise him anymore. Herby had nowhere else to go, so he moved in with his brother who is also unemployed and battling cancer. His brother has enough saved up to provide for Herby’s basic needs, but he can’t afford to send him to school so Herby dropped out several weeks ago. Life hasn’t always been kind to Herby, but he is a resilient young man and this scholarship will give him the opportunity to continue his education.

Why Education Matters
Education empowers. EM's Education Scholarships help provide necessary education and mentorship for teenagers and young adults who need a "hand up" towards a better life that presents opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.
