About the Student

Phara’s dad passed away three years ago, and last year she lost her mom. Thankfully she has relatives who have opened their home to her, but they are unemployed and struggling financially themselves. This means Phara is dealing with the grief of losing both her parents and also the stress of severe financial hardship. A RISING scholarship is a potential light in this dark time, enabling to her attend university which is something she didn't think would be possible.

Why Education Matters

Education empowers. EM's Education Scholarships help provide necessary education and mentorship for teenagers and young adults who need a "hand up" towards a better life that presents opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.
