Dorothy lives with her parents and three siblings in a small house on a property owned by some relatives. They've been living there temporarilyť ever since they lost their home in the earthquake of 2010. Neither of her parents are formally employed, and the family's primary source of income is from a small vendor table at the market where her mother sells miscellaneous items. It's a measly amount of income, and the family is struggling to make it financially. Dorothy is an intelligent, motivated young woman who is determined to go to college and give herself the opportunity to make life better for her and her family. This scholarship will enable her to begin classes at a local University and study accounting. Dorothy is a committed Christian who is active in her local church, and in her free time she enjoys drawing and dancing.

Why Education Matters
Education empowers. EM's Education Scholarships help provide necessary education and mentorship for teenagers and young adults who need a "hand up" towards a better life that presents opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.
