How is it possible that time is going by so fast? I feel like we just got to Pikeville and just started to dip our toes into this community. Looking back the last few weeks, I'm overwhelmed with the strength the Lord has provided Adam, Rubie, and I (the EM Summer Staff here in Kentucky), while also excited looking at the work that could only be done by Him in this community.
This week we had a team here from Grand Rapids, Michigan. 31 people came together from Remembrance Church to be the hands and feet of the Lord. It was incredible to see their journey at each of the homes and work sites, along with the growth with the team as a whole when they left us Friday morning.
Here are a few highlights!
At the Pregnancy Center this week, a group of 7 girls were able to paint ceilings and the garage doors to make the center more welcoming and homey to the women coming in.
Susie's home has come a long way since we first started. The siding is now completely done on all four sides. Next stop: shingles!
This week at the nursing home the residents' grandchildren were able to come for a Kids Camp. The groups that went to visit there not only got to know the residents, but also were able to play with and talk to their grandchildren.
Winston and Debbie now have a complete awning where they can sit outside and drink coffee and enjoy the neighborhood. It really is the simple pleasures that we end up taking for granted. Not only is the awning and back room complete, BUT they have a brand new bathroom floor.
We wrapped up another week here. Thankfully, we're fortunate enough to have some time to rest, prep, relax a little bit and take in the first few weeks of the summer before we finish out the last month and a half of teams in Kentucky.
