Communities
More of an urban environment, and home to Western Dairies and many hostels, San Ignacio a bright community with a distinct cultural livelihood that often attracts tourists. Here you will live with host families from the local church, immersing in local culture and potentially partnering with a pre-school or nursing home.
Thirty minutes down a dirt road from San Ignacio lies the small, farming community of Siete Millas, where running water is limited and electricity is scarce. This community is made up of immigrant families from Guatemala and El Salvador, meaning Spanish is the primary language here. Spend your days on the farm with host families and connect with the local church almost every night.
